What is Reiki?

Reiki is a natural energy healing practice that originated in Japan. Pronounced Ray-Key, it translates to “universal life energy”—the vital force that flows within and around all living things.

Developed over 100 years ago by Dr. Mikao Usui, Reiki is both a spiritual practice and a healing system that supports balance in mind, body, and spirit. Today, it is practiced worldwide as a gentle yet powerful tool for personal transformation and well-being.

Reiki is a safe, non-invasive, and complementary healing modality that can be used alongside traditional and alternative therapies. It works beyond symptoms, supporting the whole person in their healing journey.

My training is in the traditional Usui Shiki Ryoho system of Reiki, which was brought to the West in the 1930s by Hawayo Takata. With a trauma-informed approach, I create a space where you can safely reconnect with your body’s wisdom, process emotions at your own pace, and receive the restorative benefits of energy healing.

With experience in breathwork and somatic practices, I understand how energy moves through the body and how deeply stored patterns can gently release when given the right support. My sessions are not just about relaxation but about realigning you with your innate ability to heal.

What Happens in a Reiki Session?

A Reiki session is a deeply personal and intuitive experience. You simply lie down fully clothed (or sit if preferred) while I gently place my hands on or just above the body in a sequence of positions. The energy flows where it is most needed, creating a sense of calm, balance, and restoration.

Sessions typically last between 30 minutes to 1 hour, and each experience is unique. Some people feel warmth, tingling, or deep relaxation, while others may experience emotional shifts or newfound clarity. Reiki meets you where you are, supporting what is ready to move.
